My Skincare Routine

Taking care of my skin has been an obsession of mine that dates back a couple of years now. Like with everything beauty related, it will take you a while to understand your skin, to understand what she needs and what products will do you good and which ones will make her look worse.

Here are some facts

Every skin is different and water is the key to everything (Wow Sophie good one). No, but seriously, if I recommend you a product that is good for my skin, which is mostly in a dry to medium stage, and you on the other hand have rather oily skin, this product won’t do you nor your skin any good. Hence, why you have to understand your skin type first before going crazy on one million cleansers, creams, serums, and masks.

Some things that I live by

Less is more, yeah never thought that would come out of my mouth (whoever follows me on Instagram knows I am definitely on the ‘more’ side of life) but when it comes to my personal skincare routine, I am definitely on the ‘less’ side. I don’t like to use too many products, because I do tend to have very dry skin so I rather not overstress my skin with cleansers, peelings and so on.

My daily routine

My skincare day looks like this, and not kidding you even if I killed one bottle of Rosé by myself I still do it 🙂

I have recently tried out the Vital Vita 12 Serum and I love how fresh and citrus-like it feels on the skin, which helps me to wake up in the morning. If I feel extra fancy, I mix in the Clarins Golden Glow, to get that extra tan. Other all-time favorite day creams of mine are definitely the AHAVA Essential Day Moisturizer and my new obsession, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Aqua Gel.

I like to apply thicker creams at night, so they can really do their magic during night time without being disturbed by dirt, dust and other things that will get on your skin during day time. I tried out the Dr. Jart Ceramidin, which is perfect if you have dry skin.

Now, some products here I have been using for over 10 years, like the Avène Mineral Spray or the Clinique Clarifying Lotion, and I swear by them. For example, the clarifying lotion comes in 4 different variations, since there are different skin types, duhh.

I do like to switch up my serums and creams every once in a while because just like your immune system, your skin also gets used to all the goodies you give her and won’t be able to absorb all the good ingredients. I just recently switched up my serums and creams and I am using the new skincare goodies, like the Caolion Peace Water Gel Cream, which are now available at Sephora (located at Manor in Switzerland).

Some last thoughts

I do add peelings and masks to my daily routine, but I only do it when I need it. So let’s say I have a big event and use lots of makeup (less is more I know) I would use a peeling either before the event, so that my makeup wouldn’t look flaky, but most definitely after the event to get rid of every last bit of dirt that accumulated on my skin. A mask always follows a peeling, because as I said before, my skin is very dry and gets flaky super easy.

I could go on and on with my tips and tricks, but I will keep a few for the next Skin Care Blog Post. Stay tuned for more to come!

xx, S ♡
