Port Elizabeth-Plettenberg-Mossel Bay-Cape Town
After our 4-day- Safari adventure at Kruger National park, we did the famous drive called Garden Route. We started in Port Elizabeth and finished in Capetown. Our first stop after Port Elizabeth was Plettenberg, which was where we started to fall in love with South Africa. The diversity of this country is just phenomenal. From National Parks, to lonely beaches, hip coffee shops, and lovely people, you definitely have it all.
In Plettenberg itself you have a great variety of activites to do. Starting with 3 animal parks, boat rides, hikes, beaches and of course the city. If you get the chance to get there, you definitely have to try out one of the small coffee places for breakfast that are there.
Mossel Bay, our next stop, is famous for all its seafood, especially of course mossels. Along all the coast of South Africa you will get to eat fresh seafood, especially the oysters are very good and also quiet cheap compared to the rest of the world. Actually all the prices, except the Safaris, were very low compared to what we are used to from Switzerland and the USA.
We made our way all the way down to Cape Town, but before we actually went to the city center, we stayed in the suburb called Hout Bay. I would definitely recommend doing that, because you are very close to the center (aproximately 20 min) but you also have the calm and quiet bay right next door.
For our last 5 days in South Africa we decided to stay in the city center of Cape Town. This city definitely has it all. You can spend a day at the harbour, eat a delicious dinner in Nobu, climb up the Tabel Mountain, visit Bo-Kaap and much more. South Africa was perfect to start our 6 months journey around the globe because of its beautiful coast, great food, lovely people and diverse nature.
